Network DTCP-IP
Compact Link-Protection Solution

Ubiquitous DTCP-IP is a software development kit (SDK) to develop DTCP-IP-compliant home network devices. Using this SDK in the development of a DMP (Digital Media Player) or DMS (Digital Media Server) that is compliant with the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards enables the distribution and reproduction of copyrighted contents.

DTCP-IP

DTCP-IP is a technology called Link Protection to protect transmission paths and distribute copyrighted contents securely. This technology is necessary, for example, to record copyrighted video images broadcast by digital terrestrial broadcasting with a HDD video recorder, distribute those images within a home network (IP-based in-home LAN) by using DMS functionality provided for home network devices, and reproduce those images by using a DMP functionality provided for a digital TV or STB connected with the home network.

Ubiquitous DTCP-IP features a very small footprint (50 KB at minimum). Therefore, its functionalities can also be implemented onto mobile AV devices such as cellular phones and portable TVs. Ubiquitous DTCP-IP makes it easier to develop DLNA-compatible mobile devices.

A development kit for Ubiquitous DTCP-IP is provided in the form of libraries, and can also be ported to various customer platforms. For customers wishing to implement the development kit in Linux, the development kit can be ported very rapidly and then made available.

Ubiquitous DTCP-IP has also been installed onto digital video recorders and TVs and has been verified to operate with Android.

Ubiquitous DTCP-IP will be available as a solution for customers to quickly achieve compliance with DTCP-IP in developing devices compliant with DNLA Guideline 1.5.
