WLAN Solution

Ubiquitous DTCP-IP is a software development kit (SDK) to develop DTCP-IP-compliant home network devices. Using this SDK in the development of a DMP (Digital Media Player) or DMS (Digital Media Server) that is compliant with the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards enables the distribution and reproduction of copyrighted contents.

Ubiquitous WPA/WPS is a software development kit to develop the functionalities necessary for wireless LAN clients to acquire the Wi-Fi Certification logo. This software can be used to implement encryption/authentication processing functionalities intended to achieve secure communication in a wireless LAN and the functionality to easily make settings for connections to wireless LAN access points.

Ubiquitous WPA/WPS, featuring a very small code size (20 to 30 KB at the minimum), is best suited for implementing in embedded systems with limited resources. Ubiquitous WPA/WPS enables devices with an extremely limited microcomputers or ROMs/RAMs (for example, household electrical appliances or FA systems provided with wireless LAN functionalities) to perform secure communication.

Ubiquitous WPA is a Wi-Fi Protected Access (hereinafter referred to as “WPA” Supplicant software and is compliant with the new WPA2 encryption method. Customers can use Ubiquitous WPA in combination with the wireless LAN modules and the device drivers they use. The most important features of Ubiquitous WPA are its very small code size of approximately 30 KB, and the fact that as Ubiquitous WPA has already acquired Wi-Fi Certification.

Ubiquitous WPS is a Wi-Fi Protected Setup Enrollee (hereinafter referred to as “WPS” software that allows simple connection between wireless LAN clients and access points. It can of course be used in combination with Ubiquitous WPA and can also be used in combination with the WPA Supplicant used by customers.

Windows Vista or higher supports the implementation of WPS functionalities onto PCs. Windows XP can also use those functionalities if it is updated. Windows 7 provides the Microsoft Logo Program for connection, which is a functionality required for Wi-Fi routers and access points that will appear on the market in future. Customers who are considering providing support for wireless LAN for household electrical appliances or embedded products with limitations on their screens are strongly recommended to install Windows 7.

Ubiquitous WPA and WPS can be ported easily with no dependence on an OS, and therefore customers can quickly put them into service and operate them in combination with their systems. Coupling with wireless LAN drivers can be supported by making changes to the interface layer included in the sample application provided by the source code.
